2020 is the year chosen to mark the 2500th anniversary of the Battle of Thermopylae. Thermopylae 2500 marks this occasion in the United Kingdom by bringing together a range of studies from scholars across the world to explore the many and varied legacies of this battle in the ancient and modern worlds.
The contributions range from written papers to recorded presentations and cover the reception of the Battle of Thermopylae in the ancient world, modern history, and popular culture, as well as approaches to teaching about Thermopylae. The contributors’ papers can be accessed online here.
To sign-up to the online conference, where you can hear the contributors speak about their papers and engage in discussion about the wider themes, ideas, and evidence relating to the reception of the Battle of Thermopylae, please email Fiona Haarer before 16 November at [email protected].
