Booking is underway for Oxford Latinitas 2023 online classes in both Latin and Ancient Greek.
The Spring Term runs from 16th January to 10th March, and classes are available at all levels in both languages; bookings may also be made now for the Summer Term (24th April to 16th June). To accommodate different time-zones and working patterns, classes are available at six different times of day.
Students new to Oxford Latinitas (or new to our courses in either language) will have a short diagnostic call with one of our teachers in order to make sure they are placed in the right group.
Oxford Latinitas classes teach the foundations of the classical languages, strengthen students’ active linguistic abilities, and improve their reading and writing fluency, all through a sound grasp of grammar and an extended vocabulary. The classes are conducted fully in the target language (Latin or Ancient Greek), and involve reading, speaking, and various interactive exercises.
Beginner, pre-intermediate, and intermediate classes use Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata (Hans Ørberg), Athenaze (Italian version), Assimil Ancient Greek, and Ancient Greek Alive (Paula Saffire and Catherine Freis); advanced classes use classical Greek and Latin texts. Each class will have a maximum of 8 students.

Every lesson is informative and engaging, and the tutors break down the complexities of Latin grammar into manageable steps. The active method used at Latinitas encourages students to talk in Latin. As someone who recently began learning Latin in my own time, I have found this method extremely beneficial as it not only solidifies the language, but also brings it to life. — Online student, December 2022.
The teachers at Oxford Latinitas are friendly, approachable, and communicative, finding interesting and memorable ways to clearly explain aspects of the language.
