Southport and Birkdale branch talk: ‘The Historical Context of Sophocles’ Oedipus the King’ by Prof. Michael Scott

TIME: 7:00PM - 8:00PM

DATE: Thursday, April 25th 2024

VENUE: King George V Sixth Form College

On Thursday 25th April 2024, we will be joined by academic, author and broadcaster Professor Michael Scott.

You will likely recognise Michael from his BBC documentaries, including the series “Ancient Invisible Cities” during which he co-starred with Alexander Armstrong. Michael has also recently been working on a new TV project alongside Amanda Holden with the provocative title of “Sex – A Bonkers History” in which he helps Amanda get up close and personal with Ancient Sparta!

In addition to his TV and radio work, Michael is a talented author and his most recent book, “X Marks the Spot” was published this year and is receiving rave reviews. As if all that wasn’t impressive enough, Michael is also Professor of Classics at the University of Warwick and has very recently been appointed Pro-Vice Chancellor. Congratulations Michael!

The easiest way to join our branch is still to sign up using the online membership form https://lnkd.in/eV6egwcc but any enquiries can be directed to sandbclassics@gmail.com
