British Museum/School of Advanced Study: ‘Poetry and the British Museum – A New Era’

On Wednesday 25 February 2026 (7.00–9.00pm), the British Museum’s Department of Greece and Rome and the University of London’s School of Advanced Study will host a major public poetry event in Beveridge Hall, Senate House, marking both a tribute to the Museum’s literary legacy and a new chapter in the Museum’s commitment to Britain’s poets.

Poetry and the British Museum — A New Era will bring together ten internationally renowned poets for a one-night reading that weaves newly commissioned work with past voices.

The event has been organised by the poet Steven Toussaint and will be hosted by Martha Kearney. It is presented in collaboration with the Institute of Classical Studies and the Institute of English Studies.

One night only · Free · Limited seating · Drinks reception
