More information:

The next Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age/Archaic Aegean Network conference (archaeology-heritage-conservation-reception studies) will take place on 13th May 2026, 11am–3.30pm. The event will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person presentations at the Institute of Classical Studies and the option to join online.

The conference has generously been supported by the Institute of Classical Studies and will run in tandem with the Mycenaean Seminar. The event will be followed by a presentation by James Whitley for the Mycenaean Seminar Series at 3.30pm. All attendees of the mini-conference and Mycenaean Seminar are then invited to attend a reception at a nearby pub to continue discussions, and this promises to be a great opportunity to meet fellow Aegean Scholars.

We are currently accepting submissions of interest to present at the event. We encourage anyone with a broad interest in the archaeology, conservation, heritage and/or reception of the Late Bronze Age–Archaic Aegean to present. Speakers can put themselves forward for either:

  • 5 minute presentations (PowerPoint presentation optional)
  • 20 minute presentations (with PowerPoint presentation), followed by discussion

There is no allocated theme for this conference: we encourage any and all interested in the Late Bronze Age–Archaic Aegean to share your research and interests. This will be a great opportunity for everyone with an interest in this period to meet and hear what their colleagues are up to, and to receive feedback on research in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Thanks to the generosity of the Institute of Classical Studies, there is a small pot of funding available for speakers who need to travel for this event. Please let us know you are interested in funding within the application form.

If you are interested in speaking, please complete the form above by Friday 27th March 2026.

If interested in attending without presenting, please register your attendance here: ICS Booking Form Master Template – Form

The event is being co-organised and chaired by Holly Winch (University of Oxford/British Museum), Lars Hofflin (University of Oxford), Sarah Lidwell-Durnin (University of Bristol) and Flo Lloyd James (University of Bristol/Cardiff University/BSA).
