A new musical based on Homer’s Iliad is being staged at the Phoenix Arts Club in London on the 17th and 18th of June. Featuring an original pop-rock soundtrack, Age of the Hero is a retrospective of the epic woven with contemporary interpretations of the text. Described by the Daily Info as ‘a musical masterpiece’, the show is a sung through musical which emphasises the humanity at the core of the Iliad.
The show is being staged at an intimate cabaret venue and is a workshop performance.

The show initially premiered at the University of Oxford in 2022, under the title Troy Story: Age of the Hero and is produced by Off West End Award winning production company Musketeer Productions. It was written by Sav Sood, who is currently pursuing a PhD in Classics at the University of Glasgow, with a focus on the reception of the ancient world in modern media.
