CA Conference 2026

OUR EVENTS

The highlight of our annual calendar is the CA Conference, a gathering of classics enthusiasts from all over the world. Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester hosted the Classical Association Conference on 10-12 April 2026. Daily events took place at the Business School of Manchester Metropolitan University, with the Gala Dinner, Prizegiving and Entertainment at the historic Whitworth Hall.

On Friday, we enjoyed a keynote interview with Professor Josephine Crawley Quinn and Professor Catherine Fletcher, as well as special performance sessions from choreographer Matthew Rawcliffe.

On Saturday, the CA’s Honorary President, Prof. Michael Wood delivered his keynote lecture. An acclaimed historian, broadcaster and author, his groundbreaking work has shaped the field of public history for five decades.

For the first time, we incorporated a careers festival into the Sunday programme. Free to all, and designed to support students and classics enthusiasts of all ages, enjoy a panel session, Q&A and networking opportunities.

A full programme of panels, papers and workshops throughout the three days of the conference explored the conference themes:

  • Africa (including, but not restricted to, Egypt) and the Classical World;
  • Ancient Political Philosophy;
  • Classical Heritage and Global Conflict;
  • Classics in North West England;
  • Commemorating the Dead;
  • Environment, Resources and the Ancient World;
