This four-part webinar series is designed to support teachers of A Level Latin, and GCSE/A Level Classical Greek. This series will cover a selection of the prose and verse authors from OCR’s fifth set text cycle, for examination in 2027-2028.
GCSE & A Level Greek Verse: Homer’s Odyssey with Dr. Chris Burnand & Dr. Stephanie Holton
Stephanie and Chris will discuss selections of Homer’s Odyssey, to support those teaching Classical Greek verse literature at GCSE and A Level. We will consider contextual information relevant to the set text selections for examination in 2027-2028, and offer guidance for teaching key stylistic devices at both key stages. There will be opportunities for Q&A throughout the session.
Dr. Stephanie Holton is a Lecturer in Classical Studies at the Open University, whose areas of expertise and teaching interests include Homeric epic. Dr. Chris Burnand teaches Classics at Abingdon School and is the co-author of the OCR-endorsed Bloomsbury Anthology for GCSE Classical Greek.

Prof. Katherine Clarke is a Professor of Greek and Roman History at St Hilda’s College, University of Oxford, whose research and publications have explored Greek and Roman historiography, with an especial interest in Herodotus. Andy Mylne teaches Classics at Westminster School and is the co-author of the OCR-endorsed Bloomsbury Anthology for GCSE Classical Greek.

Prof. Catherine Steel is a Professor of Classics at the University of Glasgow, whose research and publications have explored the works of Cicero. Jaspal Ubhi is Head of Classics at Reading Bluecoat School.

Dr Fiachra Mac Góráin is an Associate Professor at UCL, whose research and publications focus on Virgil, Latin literature and its reception. Katharine Radice is an experienced author, teacher and education consultant, and is a regular author of OCR-endorsed Bloomsbury set text editions and the de Romanis Latin course.
