
University Archaeology Day 2025 – the future of our past is in YOUR hands!

Come to the FREE University Archaeology Day on Monday 27th October 2025, 11am-4pm at the British Academy, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AH, or enjoy our livestreamed panel events to find out about the opportunities an Archaeology degree can offer you.

University Archaeology Day is designed for prospective undergraduate or graduate students, careers advisers, teachers and anyone with an interest in the subject, organised by University Archaeology UK and the Council for British Archaeology with the kind support of the British Academy. Come along to find out what archaeology is all about, what it’s like to study the subject at university, and the kinds of careers that archaeology students can go in to – everything you need to know about studying this exciting and incredibly broad subject, which combines arts, humanities and sciences to develop a mix of highly employable skills which can open doors to all kinds of careers.
You will meet lecturers and current students from archaeology departments across the UK, as well as professional bodies and employers, and a get a chance to explore first hand what it’s like to study archaeology at university and the careers opportunities available afterwards. You will have the opportunity to ask all your questions about degree programmes and institutions, applications and careers. A series of panel sessions, streamed online, will also show the breadth of the subject, cutting-edge research and some of the latest finds and debates, as well as covering application tips, careers advice and more.
The British Academy is fully accessible – please email us (uniarchday@gmail.com) or the British Academy directly if you have any specific queries regarding accessibility or any requirements you’d like reassurance on. The panel events will be streamed via Zoom, with live captioning available. There are no age restrictions for the event – while it’s aimed mainly at students in years 12 and 13 considering studying archaeology and allied subjects at university, as well as at current HE students thinking about postgraduate options, year 11 and even younger students may also find it helpful to plan ahead, and everyone is welcome!
