10:00 am – 10:45 am: Registration, coffee, networking
10:45 am – 11:00 am: Welcome (Dr Kathryn Tempest, ICS Acting Director and CUCD Chair). Updates on the present situation in UK HE and relevant discussions concerning classicists/humanities.
11.00 am – 12:00 pm : Spotlight talks and discussion by colleagues:
- Professor Katharine Earnshaw (Exeter) ‘The landscape of interdisciplinarity’
- Dr Anna Walas (ICS) ‘Building partnerships and delivering value: A practitioner’s guide to meaningful engagement’
12.00 pm – 2:00pm: Lunch and Meeting of Council (provided: please be sure to indicate dietary requirements when registering)
2:00pm – 2.45pm: Update on REF (Professor Katherine Harloe, Chair of REF Sub-panel 29)
2.45pm – 3:345pm: Smaller-group discussions around topics emerging from the morning. Potentially to include: How can we, as a discipline, best adjust in the face of a changing funding landscape? What new opportunities might we start exploring? How do we maintain the opening out of our discipline to new voices? What stories can we tell about our discipline?
3.45pm – 4.00pm: Tea and Coffee
4:00 – 4:30pm: Closing open discussion, including the question of what attendees feel should be CUCD’s and ICS’s priorities in supporting the subject community.
