The Italian Institute of Classical Studies is an educational Institution based in Rome which aims to promote the moral and intellectual human flourishing through advanced studies in Humanities.
During the summer, we offer courses of Latin and Ancient Greek, which are held completely in Latin in Greek in order to grant a fast and yet steady and sound mastery of the language. The courses are open even to complete beginners and, in four weeks, students will acquire the knowledge of the entire grammar of Latin or Greek and the 2000 most frequent words of Classical Latin and Greek, so that at the end of the course students are able to read any Classical text in the original language without using the dictionary.
Intensive Summer Course of Latin/Greek
The Summer Course of Latin / Greek takes place from 23 June to 20 July. Students attend the morning language classes of Latin or Greek (according to the curriculum selected) and have the opportunity to actively exercise the language in the optional afternoon courses of Latin / Greek Composition. Students are also offered the possibility to be accommodated in the University Campus of the Salesian University in Rome.
Lingua Ecclesiae takes place from 2 to 27 September. Students are accommodated in the Mater Mundi House. They attend Latin language course in the morning and optional courses of Latin Composition in the afternoon. In the 3rd and 4th week of the course, students may also attend courses which focus specifically in a field of Christian Latin language, such as Latinitas Patristica, Liturgica and Canonica.
