Registration is now open for “Rhetoric, drama and their critics: a symposium in memory of Malcolm Heath, late emeritus Professor of Greek Language and Literature at Leeds”, to be held at the University of Leeds Thursday 21st to Friday 22nd May. You’ll find the programme here.
As you’ll see, we have a great line-up of speakers, including well known scholars who have worked with Malcolm on various projects, former PhD students of Malcolm’s who have gone on to academic careers, and early-career scholars who have been influenced by his work. Topics range widely across Greek literature from Homer to Byzantium, with some Latin in there too, reflecting something of the breadth of Malcolm’s interests as we’d hoped.
The programme page links to a booking site here.
There are one-day options as well as the whole two-day registration package, and a virtual-delegate rate to allow for online participation. We are unfortunately *not* able to offer accommodation on campus, but we have made suggestions for local hotels to suit a range of budgets.
We have made every effort to keep costs to a minimum, but thanks to the generosity of the Hellenic Society and the Institute of Classical Studies we have a modest budget for bursaries towards the costs of postgraduate and early-career researchers. If you would like to apply for some subvention, please contact the event organisers with a brief note of your circumstances.
For all symposium correspondence, please use the address: MFHSymposium@leeds.ac.uk
Note: this is a fee-paying event run by an organisation which is not affiliated to, or funded by, the Classical Association. Please contact the organisers directly with any enquiries.
