Outreach Grants

The CA supports a wide range of outreach events to promote the public awareness of classical topics.

Activities might include:

  • Public talks, interactive sessions or workshops on the classical world;
  • Regional Greek and Roman days involving local communities;
  • Theatrical performances (where there is significant outreach component that merits funding);
  • Other outreach initiatives aimed at young people.

The CA may agree to fund travel expenses and associated costs for speakers and/or organisers. These associated costs may include room hire, hire or purchase of materials and advertising, but not catering costs. The CA will not normally cover speakers’ fees.

In your application, please provide details of your target audience (e.g. expected numbers and demographics) and how you intend to organize and advertise the event with EDI priorities in mind. Please also state how you intend to communicate and/or monitor the success of your event for reporting purposes to the CA (e.g. social media posts, blog entry, student questionnaires, photos) and how you intend to acknowledge the CA’s support.

Preference will be given to events which represent good value for money, look to build longer-term engagement with the classical world, and encourage access and widening participation e.g. by benefiting those who might otherwise have limited opportunities to encounter the Greek and Roman worlds.

To apply for outreach funding of up to £750, please complete the Outreach Grant Application Form and send as an email attachment to canews@classicalassociation.org, ensuring that you have followed the guidelines above in order to avoid any unnecessary delays to your application.
