JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School (July – August 2025)

The 31st JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School took place from Saturday 26th July to Saturday 2nd August 2025 at St John’s College, Durham. The JACT Durham Summer School was a resounding success and attracted students from all walks of life – it is our aim to make the Classical World accessible to all!

At the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School we offer courses in Latin and Greek across five levels, from Beginner to Advanced, alongside a Classical Civilisation course on The Homeric Hero. Students receive 18 hours of tuition alongside an enriching programme or extra-curricular activities such as lectures and workshops held by both students and visiting speakers.

Optional activities include a visit to Hadrian’s Wall (Housesteads & Chesters), and a guided tour of the Durham Oriental Museum. The week began with an Ancient History quiz and concluded with a formal dinner and performances by students.
