In 2020 the CA awarded a major grant to the Roman Coventry Project, led by Dr Paul Grigsby of the Warwick Classics Network.

The project is inspired by Coventry City of Culture 2021, and aims to bring Coventry and Warwickshire’s Roman past to every school and schoolchild in Coventry, making local schools the most culturally enriched in the country and offering equal opportunities to all pupils irrespective of background or ability. CA funding will contribute to the creation of online resources and lessons, as well as a travelling artefact collection and the organisation of events for schools in 2021.

In July 2021 the first scanning of Roman objects from Lunt Roman Fort took place, funded by the CA grant. A video of the scanning process can be seen here.

You can read more about the project on the Warwick Classics Network website.
