Junior Reading Competition

Venue:  The Leys School Cambridge

NB  This event will be Face-to-Face only.

Entrants will be in the first or second year of studying Latin or Greek.

There are three categories:

Latin Prose: “post cenam”  CLC Book 1, Stage 7, p88

Greek Prose: “A thirsty stag”

Latin Dramatic Reading: Model sentences at the start of Stage 11 (CLC Book 1 p146-7) and Marcus and Quartus (CLC Book 1, Stage 11 p148)

All the passages and translations are given here.

Note:  We understand that there is some confusion over the CLC page numbers given in the letter, dated 24th January, about this competition. This is because the passages were taken from CLC 4th edition when  now there is now a 5th edition in use.

Please use only the texts and translations provided via the link above  and ignore these page references in the letter. In that way everyone will be using the same readings.

Each school may submit TWO entrants for each prose category.

There is no limit on the number taking part in the Dramatic Reading.

Schools that wish to enter more candidates are asked to submit their request to Barbara Kern  (info4camca@yahoo.com).

For administrative purposes we are asking schools to preregister so we get some idea of numbers attending.

Please send details of names, numbers and categories to Barbara Kern (info4camca@yahoo.com).

Closing date for pre-registration is Friday March 3rd 2023.
