We are delighted to announce for our first ever CUCD-CA subject meeting for classicists and ancient historians on 1 June 2026 at the University of Newcastle.

The conference will explore a range of current issues in teaching and learning, including (1) Decolonising the Curriculum (2) Teaching ancient languages and (3) Diversifying assessment.

12:30 – 13:30: Lunch

13:30 – 14:30: Teaching Ancient Languages (Richard Marshall and James Robson)

14: 30 – 14:45: Tea and Coffee

14: 45 – 15:45: Diversifying Assessment (Jamie Wood, James Robson, and Kathryn Tempest)

15.45 – 16: 00: Closing open discussion, including the question of what attendees feel should be CUCD’s and CA’s priorities in supporting the subject community.
