Greek Theatre Reimagined: In Conversation with Robert Icke

When: Friday 6th November 2026, 4:30pm

Where: Little Hall Lecture Theatre, Sidgwick Site (Sidgwick Avenue), Cambridge, CB3 9DA

In celebration of the Cambridge Greek Play 2026, the Cambridge Classical Reception Seminar series is organising an event exploring ‘Greek Theatre Reimagined’. We are delighted to be welcoming writer and director, Robert Icke – celebrated (amongst other things) for landmark adaptations of both the ‘Oresteia’ and ‘Oedipus’. Icke’s opening reflections will be followed by panel discussion, chaired by Rebecca Laemmle, and featuring Sydney Hertz, Fiona Macintosh, Shushma Malik and Rosalind Parker.

All are warmly welcome – and to join afterwards for drinks in the Museum of Classical Archaeology. Pre-registration is not required, but space in Little Hall will be limited.

The special event has been generously supported by the Brian Leech Memorial Fund in the Faculty of Classics.

For further information, please contact the convenors of the Classical Reception Seminar series in 2026/2027, Emma Arnold (ea568@cam.ac.uk) and Carolina Ravanelli (cr785@cam.ac.uk).

Note: this is not a Classical Association event – please contact the organisers directly with any enquiries.
