British School at Rome: annual postgraduate City of Rome course

Applications are now open for the British School at Rome’s annual postgraduate City of Rome course. An intensive eight-week residential course for postgraduates at selected British and BSR partner universities which unlocks Rome for students at Masters or Doctoral level studying classical archaeology, classics, art history, ancient history (both Greek and Roman) and the transformation of antiquity in the Middle Ages and the modern period.

The course examines the history, archaeology, topography, infrastructures, development and function of the Imperial capital. You will analyse its  monuments in terms of their structural history, architectural characteristics, place in the development of the urban plan, social, political, economic or religious function and their subsequent use and influence.
