Ightham Primary School: Year 4 Roman Day (February 2026)

I had a great day! We made mosaics, ink with gunpowder, leather finger guards, potpourris, wax tablets, clay bowls and unsafe safety pins. My favourite part of the day was being a Roman soldier when we made fun formations and I had to go on patrol.

In the afternoon, we were archaeologists where we had to brush off soil to find objects. We then had to work out which room in a Roman villa our objects were lined to. It was also really fun dressing up; most of the girls were wearing fancy togas and most of the boys were wearing soldier costumes. There was a really nice man who came in and trained us to be Roman soldiers and some of us archers. Then he took us out on patrol with him.

We all had so much fun and learnt so much. Thank you Phil for teaching us, we had an amazing day with you.
