Manor Wood Primary School: Year 4 Roman Day at Murton Park (April 2026)

Our Year 4 class (60 students) visited Murton Park (YMF) in York for an immersive day of living as a Roman in their Roman village.

The pupils took part in tilling the land, defending the settlement from the enemy, eating like Romans, trying cursive writing and clay pot making. They also experienced living conditions in Roman times – very basic and very unsanitary. All in all a brilliant day to learn more about this particular history topic.

The children thoroughly enjoyed it.
