Talycopa Primary School: Year 6 visit to Swansea Egypt Centre (April 2025)

The children enjoyed a rich, hands-on visit to the Egypt Centre, which deepened their understanding of Ancient Egyptian civilisation. They explored aspects of social hierarchy through dress and engaged directly with authentic artefacts, including a lead kohl pot and jewellery, fostering a tangible connection to daily life in antiquity.

Within the House of the Dead, pupils examined iconography, identifying deities represented on funerary objects while listening to traditional narratives. They also learned about mummification practices and the protective significance of amulets within Egyptian belief systems.

We are sincerely grateful for the grant funding that enabled this experience, allowing pupils to engage meaningfully with material culture and develop a lasting appreciation of the ancient world.
