Wheatfields Junior School: Year 4 Ancient Greek Day (February 2026)

Wheatfields Junior School held an Ancient Greek Day for our Year 4 children, all of whom came in dressed as Ancient Greeks for the day. We had used the funds received from the Classical Association to purchase a range of Greek artefacts which the children enjoyed exploring as historical sources helping them to interpret what life was like for the Ancient Greeks. Being able to hold and touch these artefacts gave them a unique experience and brought the history to life.

In addition, the children learned about theatre in Ancient Greece, listened to a number of Greek Myths and made masks like those used by the Ancient Greeks in their plays. The children also debated the long lasting ‘legacy’ left by the Greeks on science, democracy, language, architecture, literature, maths and philosophy including the Olympics and other notable influences on brands and marketing which surprised them.
